Welcome to Floyd County In View's On Line Community Journal & Regional Magazine, a locally owned and locally produced electronic periodical embracing the lives and times of some of the most unique people and beautiful places on earth.

As of May 2001, due to response and request, Floyd County In View has broadened its View to include contributions and visions extending throughout SouthWestern Virginia;
Welcoming the In View's of our neighbors of the Blue Ridge Mountains,
and the Roanoke, Shenandoah and New River Valleys.

We hope, along with your help, to provide a regularly updated and evolving link to and for the
people that comprise our increasingly diversified neighbors and neighborhoods.

Our hope is to increase the awareness and the appreciation of our rural and extended communities among ourselves. So easy is it to take for granted and consider permanent or indestructable the way of life that we have chosen, and that either brought us here, kept us here, or into which we were born and raised and sustains us.

Looking around us we can see the encroachment of urbanization and the devastation to the working farm family and our ways of life..
We can look around us now, in the onset of the twenty-first century, and see the infiltrations and proliferations of the subdivision and suburbian development mentality.

Preservation of a simplicity of lifestyle and a bond to the natural environment that produces our foods, creates and sustains our balance in life amid the turmoil, and provides us a semblance of nurtured comfort, should be foremost in any of our efforts to affect change in our community.

Floyd County In View's Community On Line Journal & Regional Magazine will  provide rich, photographic essays and albums,samplings of arts and artists; occasional interviews and articles of, by and about the variety of interesting people and life experiences, cottage industries and main street businesses that flavor the place we call home.

But most importantly and most obviously,
we will  highlight  the countryside and the rich rural Nature of
Floyd County and Southwest Virginia
in photography;
the forests and farms, the hills and hollers, mountain
tops and bottom lands;

The rustic and the bucolic as well as the diligence and determination of the dairy farmers and the sod busters;
And of they who hold fast to their small town ideals of preservation of quality of life continuity.
 

A click and find format allows regulars and visitors to this site quick and easy access to feature articles, photographic arrays, and interesting glimpses at the life and times we share;
But especially and more importantly, the
various listings, classifieds & personals, an interactive Floyd County CHAT room and message boards and much much more
in this site will provide a forum for communication among and for
we who live here.

As we proceed along we would like your contributions to our community journal; we also may announce requests for particular or specific
information, commentary or photographs.*

sharing in your memory or creativity.*
