International Exchange Association invites you to become a host family
for a high school international exchange student from Germany, Hong
Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand. Students are 15-18
years old and come to the US for a cultural exchange program for one
academic year (mid August-mid June). Students speak English and are
willing to learn American culture while willing to share their culture.
FIEA provides students with
health
and
accident insurance. Students have their own spending money.
Host families provide room and board and treat the student as a family
member. This is a unique opportunity to teach someone about
the diverse culture of the US and to learn about another nation's
culture! We are now taking applications for host families in

I
am looking for a dark skies site away from lights. It would be used by
members of the Roanoke Valley Astronomical Society and their guests.
The site should be in southern Floyd County near these communities:
Willis, Buffalo Mountain, Corners Grove, Union, or Conners Grove. We
now use two sites on the Parkway, both of which are not dark enough. In
return for access to a dark, open space, we will gladly share our
knowledge and telescopes with all Floyd visitors who join us, so people
can see what the heavens look like through high-quality instruments.
